WASTE AUTOMOBILE FLUIDS
Over 20 thousand tons of antifreeze are consumed in Kazakhstan annually. Waste automobile fluids, such as antifreeze and brake fluid, are toxic to humans and the environment (they belong to the II-III hazard class). This waste must not be placed of in the natural environment and must be collected and disposed of using environmentally friendly processing methods.
Since 2020, the disposal fee for antifreezes has been canceled, while compensation payments to collectors and processors have been preserved. The amount of payments depends on the amount of waste collected and processed. These measures are aimed at supporting, stimulating business in creating new capacities and further development of the processing industry in Kazakhstan. In 2017-2018, two enterprises cooperated with EPR Operator LLP in the sector of processing of waste antifreezes and special fluids.
