JSC Zhasyl Damu Strengthens Its Expertise in Climate Policy

From May 18 to 22, 2026, a practical training on the NDC Expert Tool (NEXT) was held in Astana with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Employees of JSC Zhasyl Damu took part in the training. The program aimed to enhance professional competencies in the assessment, monitoring, and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions in agrifood systems in line with the requirements of the Paris Agreement and the methodology of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Over the course of five days, participants learned the practical application of the NEXT tool, explored scenario analysis methods, and studied approaches to assessing CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O emissions, as well as mechanisms for calculating changes in carbon stocks in biomass and soils. Particular attention was given to issues such as reforestation, rehabilitation of degraded lands, sustainable soil resource management, and the implementation of modern agricultural practices.

Participation in international educational programs contributes to strengthening the expert capacity of Zhasyl Damu JSC and developing practical skills in the use of modern climate reporting tools. The knowledge gained will enable employees to contribute more effectively to the implementation of Kazakhstan’s climate policy and the achievement of national environmental goals.
