JSC Jasyl Damu Strengthens Competencies in Climate Transparency and Adaptation

Employees of JSC Jasyl Damu took part in an international seminar on Jeju Island (Republic of Korea), which brought together leading experts in climate policy, transparency, and adaptation to climate change.
The seminar was organized by the UNFCCC Secretariat, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, the Korea Environment Institute KACCC, UNITAR CIFAL Jeju, and the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre.

The main topic of the discussions was the preparation of countries for the Enhanced Transparency Framework of the Paris Agreement, with a particular focus on developing high-quality adaptation sections for the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) and exploring effective international approaches in this area.

The program included practical training sessions, group discussions, and even a field visit, where participants examined real climate challenges and possible solutions using Jeju Island as a case study.

Representatives of JSC Jasyl Damu not only gained new knowledge of international reporting standards (with certification), but also became acquainted with the experiences of Asia-Pacific countries, which also presented their first reports. An important outcome was the establishment of contacts with experts from the UNFCCC, UNEP CCC, KEI KACCC, and peers from other countries.

JSC Jasyl Damu plans to apply the knowledge gained to improve the national climate reporting system and strengthen competencies in the field of adaptation. The company will continue to contribute to fulfilling Kazakhstan’s international commitments under the Paris Agreement by fostering professional cooperation and implementing best practices.
