JSC "Zhasyl Damu" and RSE "Kazhydromet" Strengthen International Cooperation on Monitoring Persistent Organic Pollutants

JSC Zhasyl Damu, together with RSE Kazhydromet, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the International Environmental Research Center RECETOX (Brno, Czech Republic), held discussions on expanding partnership in the field of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) monitoring. The meeting was organized within the framework of the global project “Implementation of the Fourth Phase of POPs Monitoring under the Stockholm Convention.”

The participants emphasized the strategic importance of knowledge exchange and the introduction of modern technologies in environmental monitoring. The international center RECETOX expressed its readiness for long-term cooperation and offered Kazakhstan passive samplers for water and air, laboratory research using its infrastructure, and training for Kazhydromet specialists through joint studies.

The main goal of the joint efforts is to ensure reliable data collection for the preparation of the Fourth Global Monitoring Report on Persistent Organic Pollutants. This document will be presented at the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention in 2027.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between RSE Kazhydromet and RECETOX, which will mark an important step in strengthening Kazakhstan’s international cooperation in the field of ecology and sustainable development.
