As part of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan's nationwide environmental initiative "Taza Kazakhstan", and with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhasyl Damu JSC has allocated funds collected through the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) utilization fee mechanism to strengthen the protection of the country's forests, specially protected natural areas, and national parks from wildfires.
The total amount of financing is KZT 16,916,552,707.
The funding has been directed toward the deployment of modern early forest fire detection systems, the procurement of drones, the modernization of video surveillance, communication and data transmission equipment, as well as the development of the necessary infrastructure. These integrated software and hardware solutions enable round-the-clock monitoring of protected areas and ensure the rapid transmission of information when signs of fire are detected.
The project is of particular importance for Kazakhstan, where forests cover a relatively small portion of the country's territory. Since forest restoration requires decades, the timely detection of fires and rapid emergency response are essential to preserving the nation's natural heritage.
As part of the project, 14 SRO-1 early fire detection systems have been delivered to the regions.

The SRO-1 is an integrated software and hardware system designed to automatically detect the earliest signs of fire within protected areas. Operating 24 hours a day, the system identifies smoke, combustion products, temperature increases, as well as infrared and ultraviolet radiation emitted by flames. Once a potential fire is confirmed, the information is immediately transmitted to a dispatch center or fire service, significantly reducing response time and helping prevent the spread of fire.
At selected sites, automated solutions equipped with 360-degree surveillance cameras operating 24/7 are also being deployed. These technologies make it possible to detect fires at an early stage—before they become visible to the human eye or develop into large-scale incidents.
The introduction of early fire detection systems, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and modern communication technologies significantly enhance the protection of forest resources and specially protected natural areas. This comprehensive approach enables faster response to wildfires, strengthens preventive measures, reduces risks to human life, and minimizes both environmental and economic damage.
The implementation of this project is aimed at improving the overall level of fire safety across Kazakhstan's natural areas and establishing a more resilient and effective system for protecting the country's forests from emergencies.
