More than 131 Thousand Tonnes of Waste Sent for Recycling Through the EcoQolday System

The EcoQolday information system, developed by Zhasyl Damu JSC to digitalize waste collection and recycling processes, continues to expand its network of participants while demonstrating steady growth in recycling volumes.

Since the system was launched, 159 companies have applied to participate, including 104 waste collectors, 32 recycling companies, and 23 full-cycle enterprises.

To date, 96 agreements have been signed with participants, including 64 waste collectors, 20 recycling companies, and 12 full-cycle enterprises. An additional four companies are awaiting on-site inspections following preliminary approval, while two applications remain under review.

Since the system became operational in August 2024, a total of 131.04 thousand tonnes of waste have been sent for recycling through EcoQolday. The largest share consists of paper (92.05 thousand tonnes) and glass (28.86 thousand tonnes). In addition, 8.74 thousand tonnes of used tyres, 1.32 thousand tonnes of plastic waste, and 0.07 thousand tonnes of composite material waste have been recycled.

Recycling volumes continue to grow each year. In 2024, 11.07 thousand tonnes of waste were processed through the system. This figure increased to 49.34 thousand tonnes in 2025, while in the first half of 2026 alone, it reached 70.63 thousand tonnes, demonstrating the system's growing efficiency and increasing participation by businesses.

Within the approved budgets, participants in the system have received a total of KZT 3.416 billion in incentive payments. Of this amount, KZT 4.6 million was paid in 2024, KZT 884.4 million in 2025, and KZT 2.527 billion has been disbursed to date in 2026. This incentive mechanism supports the development of waste collection and recycling infrastructure while increasing the use of secondary raw materials in the circular economy.

EcoQolday actively engages not only businesses but also the public. As of the reporting date, the system has registered 1,081 applications from waste generators, representing a total of 3,540.52 tonnes of waste.

Of these, 629 applications were submitted by individuals, who delivered 2,276.42 tonnes of waste for recycling, primarily glass, paper, and used tyres. Another 452 applications were submitted by legal entities, accounting for 1,264.1 tonnes of waste, mainly paper and used tyres.

Zhasyl Damu JSC also continues its systematic efforts to promote a culture of separate waste collection among the public. As part of the pilot project "Taza Üi – Taza El" ("Clean Home – Clean Country"), special containers for the separate collection of paper and plastic waste have been installed in residential complexes across the city of Astana. The project is being gradually expanded to other regions of Kazakhstan.

In addition, since 2026, meetings have been held jointly with local executive authorities and representatives of homeowners' associations and condominium management bodies in the city of Aktau, Aktobe Region, Shymkent, and Taldykorgan. During these meetings, participants are introduced to the EcoQolday system and informed about the organization of separate waste collection with the involvement of local residents.

Zhasyl Damu JSC will continue to improve digital waste management solutions, expand the geographical coverage of EcoQolday, increase recycling volumes, and create favorable conditions for the active participation of businesses and the public in building a circular economy.
