The environmental project “Taza Üi – Taza El” continues to expand in Astana, enabling residents of apartment buildings to sort and dispose of recyclable materials directly in their residential complexes. The project is being implemented as part of the nationwide environmental initiative “Taza Qazaqstan”, initiated by Zhasyl Damu JSC and the Nationwide Social Democratic Party, with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Astana City Administration, Zero Waste LLP, Astana Qagazy LLP, ReClaim IE, and the digital platform EcoQolday.
Specialized containers for separate waste collection have already been installed in the residential complexes Koktal 2, Aqtilek, Bakhyt Premium, Crocus City, Bukhar Zhyrau, Respublika, Sat City, and Stepnoy. The project infrastructure continues to expand, with 42 additional residential complexes currently in the process of joining the initiative.
Residents can separate and dispose of plastic, paper, and glass directly in their courtyards. To ensure effective recycling, all recyclable materials should be sorted in advance and deposited in a clean condition. The collected materials are delivered to domestic recycling enterprises, where they are processed into new products. This helps reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills while increasing recycling rates.
The project also provides tangible benefits for residential communities. Funds are generated from the collected recyclable materials and, upon the decision of residents and homeowners' associations, may be used for improving courtyards, purchasing equipment and maintenance tools, and implementing other initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of the urban environment.
The “Taza Üi – Taza El” project promotes a culture of separate waste collection, strengthens environmental responsibility among citizens, and encourages public participation in the nationwide environmental initiative “Taza Qazaqstan.”
