Zero Waste LLP Develops Separate Waste Collection Infrastructure in Astana

Astana continues to expand its infrastructure for separate waste collection. One of the companies contributing to this effort is Zero Waste LLP, which provides municipal solid waste collection and transportation services and is also developing a system for collecting recyclable materials as part of the environmental project “Taza Üi – Taza El” (Clean Home – Clean Country).

The company has been operating in the waste management sector since February 2024. Today, its fleet consists of 43 specialized vehicles. Zero Waste LLP serves approximately 50% of the capital’s territory, including the Almaty, Sarayshyq and Saryarka districts. The company collects and transports around 600 tonnes of municipal solid waste every day.

A separate area of the company’s activities focuses on developing separate waste collection. To date, 50 mesh containers for plastic waste have been installed in residential complexes across Astana.

In addition, 10 specialized collection sites have been set up where residents can separately dispose of plastic and cardboard. The company plans to gradually expand this infrastructure based on incoming requests and available capacity.

The company is also introducing automated collection of recyclable materials. Five reverse vending machines have already been installed at various locations across Astana. At least 10 additional machines are planned for installation in the future.

The development of such infrastructure makes separate waste collection more accessible to residents, increases the volume of recyclable materials sent for further processing, and contributes to gradually fostering a culture of responsible waste management.

Zhasyl Damu JSC continues its efforts to develop the separate waste collection system and create conditions for recyclable materials to be directed into processing as part of the ongoing improvement of Kazakhstan’s waste management system.
