JSC Zhasyl Damu Contributes to the Development of the Waste Management System in Kazakhstan

As part of a series of year-end Government press conferences, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during a meeting with journalists, highlighted the significant role of Zhasyl Damu JSC in implementing state policy in the field of waste management.

Within the framework of the preferential financing mechanism funded by recycling fees, JSC Zhasyl Damu has approved 63 projects in the waste management sector, 22 of which have already been financed for a total amount of KZT 89.4 billion. The total volume of planned financing amounts to KZT 185 billion. The projects being implemented are aimed at renewing the fleet of garbage trucks, as well as developing waste sorting and recycling systems.

The implementation of these initiatives will make it possible to increase the municipal waste recycling rate in the country to 40% by 2030 and will represent an important step toward the formation of modern environmental infrastructure.

The introduction of the EcoQolday digital platform, aimed at monitoring, accounting for, and incentivizing waste recycling, is also ongoing. To date, approximately 50 thousand tons of waste have been collected and sent for recycling through the system, with payments totaling KZT 830 million made.

JSC Zhasyl Damu will continue to consistently support projects aimed at reducing environmental impact and developing Kazakhstan’s green economy.
