On September 10, 2026, Kambar Omarov, Member of the Board of Directors and Independent Director of Zhasyl Damu JSC, took part in Baku Climate Action Week 2026.
At the forum, he delivered a presentation entitled “Zhasyl Damu JSC as a Driver of the Transition to a Circular Economy: Kazakhstan’s Opportunities.”
The presentation outlined Kazakhstan’s approaches to implementing its climate and environmental policies, as well as the role of Zhasyl Damu JSC in carbon regulation, hazardous waste management, implementation of the extended producer and importer responsibility principle, and the development of a national waste management system.
Kambar Omarov paid particular attention to the development of the emissions trading system, the protection of forests and natural areas, the introduction of early fire detection systems, environmental education within the framework of the Taza Kazakhstan initiative, and the implementation of the Concept for the Management of All Types of Waste in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2026–2030.
The importance of regional cooperation in developing carbon markets, ensuring digital traceability of waste, recycling secondary raw materials, and addressing issues related to historical pollution was also highlighted.
“Kazakhstan is open to such cooperation. We are ready to share our accumulated experience, learn from the solutions of our partners, and move from exchanging best practices to implementing joint projects,” Kambar Omarov emphasized.
