Kurultai Discusses Scaling Up the Taza Üi – Taza El Project

A roundtable meeting was held by the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Ecology and Natural Resources of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where Nurzhan Kabdoldanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Zhasyl Damu, presented the results of the implementation of the Taza Üi – Taza El environmental project.

The project is being implemented as part of the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan initiative and is aimed at developing the separate collection of recyclable materials directly in apartment buildings. Interaction between project participants is facilitated through the EcoQolday system.

The pilot stage was launched in Astana in January 2026. To date, 53 eco-boxes have been installed, covering more than 130 apartment buildings. An additional 100 eco-boxes and reverse vending machines are planned to be installed by the end of the year. Since the launch of the project, condominium management bodies (KSK) and property owners’ associations (OSI) have already generated more than KZT 1.2 million from the sale of collected recyclable materials.

One of the key objectives of the project is to engage KSKs, OSIs and property management companies in the separate waste collection system. This enables residents not only to participate in waste sorting but also to generate additional income from the sale of recyclable materials.

To support this, the EcoQolday system provides mechanisms that allow KSKs and OSIs to cooperate with waste collectors or independently sell collected recyclable materials to recycling companies and receive the applicable payments.

The results of the pilot stage demonstrate residents’ willingness to participate in separate waste collection and confirm the potential for further development of the project.

JSC Zhasyl Damu proposed scaling up the Taza Üi – Taza El project across the regions of Kazakhstan with the support of Kurultai deputies and local executive bodies.
