A roundtable discussion was held at the Adilet Party with the participation of Mansur Oshurbayev, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Nurzhan Kabdoldanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Zhasyl Damu JSC. Representatives of the Ministry and the Company presented measures to support waste collection and recycling, develop relevant infrastructure, and engage residents in separate waste collection.
One of the key topics was the EcoQolday programme. Since its launch, payments to participants have exceeded KZT 5.3 billion, while the volume of processed waste has reached 162.4 thousand tonnes. Particular attention was also given to mechanisms enabling associations of property owners (APOs) and condominium management bodies to organize separate waste collection in residential complexes and generate income from the sale of recyclable materials. In Astana, 53 eco-boxes have already been installed, serving more than 130 apartment buildings.
Participants were also informed about concessional financing for infrastructure projects at an annual interest rate of 3%. A total of KZT 185 billion has been allocated for 2024–2026 to develop waste sorting and recycling infrastructure and purchase specialized equipment. An additional KZT 54 billion has been earmarked for 2026–2028 to finance municipal solid waste landfill projects.
