EcoQolday: How residents of Aktau can turn waste into income

As part of the environmental initiative “Taza Qazaqstan,” systematic efforts are ongoing to engage regions in separate waste collection and enable income generation through the EcoQolday mobile application.

JSC “Zhasyl Damu,” together with the National Democratic Party of Kazakhstan and with the participation of the Akimat of Aktau city and the Department of Ecology of Mangystau Region, held a working meeting with representatives of Zero Waste LLP (a waste collection company) and housing cooperatives. The meeting focused on the implementation of the EcoQolday automated information system and on involving local residents in the processes of separate waste collection and sorting.

During the meeting, a representative of JSC “Zhasyl Damu,” Shaimurat Saken, explained to participants the operating principles of the EcoQolday information system, under which every resident can earn income without leaving home by submitting plastic and paper waste for recycling. Special attention was paid to discussing the environmental initiative “Taza Uy – Taza El,” aimed at engaging condominium associations and housing cooperatives in the separate collection and sorting of recyclable materials, followed by their transfer to recycling enterprises.

The implementation of these initiatives has a significant social and environmental impact on the region: it contributes to reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, developing separate collection infrastructure, supporting recycling enterprises, and increasing environmental awareness among the population. All of this is aimed at improving the quality of the urban environment and promoting the sustainable development of Mangystau Region.
