How to Find Out Whether a Recycling Fee Applies to a Product

You can determine whether the Extended Producer and Importer Responsibility (EPR) requirements apply to a specific product by checking its HS (TN VED) code.

How to check:

1. Go to recycle.kz.
2. Open the section containing regulatory legal acts.
3. Find the list of specific types of products and goods subject to Extended Producer and Importer Responsibility.
4. Compare your product’s HS (TN VED) code with the codes specified in the list.

If the list contains a code that is shorter than the full ten-digit code, check whether its first digits match those of your product’s code. Such a code may cover several product categories falling under it.
