Kazakhstan has allocated nearly KZT 116 billion from the recycling fee to develop modern waste management infrastructure. Funding has been provided for 30 projects involving the construction of recycling facilities, the establishment of waste sorting complexes, and the procurement of specialized equipment.
The projects are financed by Zhasyl Damu JSC with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Overall, the Ministry's Investment Headquarters has approved 68 projects worth KZT 376.8 billion, of which 30 projects have already received funding.
Among the funded projects, five involve the construction of municipal solid waste sorting facilities with a combined capacity of 640,000 tonnes per year.
Another 16 projects aim to expand waste recycling capacity by 430,000 tonnes annually, while nine projects provide for the procurement of 128 units of specialized equipment.
To date, 12 projects have been successfully completed.

The largest share of funding has been allocated to Almaty, North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Aktobe, and Kostanay regions.
In addition, projects are being implemented in the Atyrau, Akmola, Mangystau, East Kazakhstan, and Abai regions, as well as in Astana, Shymkent, and other parts of the country.
The projects cover the recycling of waste paper, PET bottles, end-of-life vehicle tires, food waste, and other types of waste, the modernization of existing recycling facilities, and the renewal of specialized waste management equipment fleets.
