More Than KZT 3.1 Billion in Recycling Fee Funds Spent on Special Equipment for Semey Ormany

ASTANA. August 7. KazTAG – More than KZT 3.1 billion in recycling fee proceeds has been allocated for the purchase of specialized equipment for the Semey Ormany Reserve in the Abai Region, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

“With the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhasyl Damu JSC allocated more than KZT 3.1 billion from recycling fee proceeds for the purchase of modern specialized equipment for the Semey Ormany State Forest Nature Reserve in the Abai Region,” the Ministry of Ecology said in a statement.

As part of the project, the forest nature reserve received 39 firefighting tanker trucks, 10 tractors, and 26 off-road vehicles required for rapid response to fires and the implementation of fire prevention and suppression measures.

In total, from 2024 to the present, Zhasyl Damu JSC has allocated more than KZT 33.1 billion in recycling fee proceeds for the purchase of modern specialized equipment for the country’s state national nature parks, forest nature reserves, protected nature reserves, and forestry institutions.

As a reminder, in 2023, a forest fire in the Semey Ormany Reserve burned more than 63,000 hectares. The fire claimed the lives of 14 forestry workers.

On July 16, 2026, another fire broke out in the reserve, affecting approximately 60 hectares. The fire was contained on July 18.
