Zhasyl Damu allocated KZT 3.1 billion for this purpose
Specialized equipment for the Semey Ormany Nature Reserve in the Abai Region was purchased using funds collected from recycling fees. Zhasyl Damu JSC allocated more than KZT 3.1 billion for this purpose, Kapital.kz Business Information Center reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
“With the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhasyl Damu JSC allocated more than KZT 3.1 billion from recycling fee proceeds to purchase modern specialized equipment for the Semey Ormany State Forest Nature Reserve in the Abai Region. The modernization of the reserve’s material and technical resources is aimed at improving preparedness for the wildfire season, reducing response times to fires, and increasing the effectiveness of forest protection,” the Ministry of Ecology said.
As part of the project, the forest nature reserve received 39 firefighting tanker trucks, 10 tractors, and 26 off-road vehicles required for rapid response to fires and the implementation of fire prevention and suppression measures.
According to the ministry, from 2024 to the present, Zhasyl Damu JSC has allocated more than KZT 33.1 billion in recycling fee proceeds to purchase modern specialized equipment for state national nature parks, forest nature reserves, protected nature reserves, and forestry institutions across the country.
During this period, 1,006 units of specialized equipment were purchased for environmental organizations to prevent and rapidly extinguish forest and steppe fires. These include firefighting tanker trucks, off-road vehicles, tractors, and other equipment required to protect forests and specially protected natural areas.
As previously reported, Zhasyl Damu JSC allocated more than KZT 33 billion from recycling fee proceeds to purchase firefighting equipment for forest protection.
Zhasyl Damu also allocated KZT 16.9 billion to strengthen forest fire protection.
In 2024, the operator provided KZT 200 billion in financing to modernize equipment used in the forestry and water management sectors, as well as the material and technical resources of the emergency response system.
Since the beginning of the year, 36 fires covering more than 794 hectares have been recorded in Kazakhstan’s forest areas.
