Zhasyl Damu Allocates Over KZT 33 Billion from Recycling Fees to Purchase Firefighting Equipment for Forest Protection

JSC Zhasyl Damu has allocated more than KZT 33 billion from recycling fee revenues to purchase firefighting equipment for forest protection, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as reported by the Kapital.kz business information center.

According to the released information, under the "Taza Kazakhstan" environmental initiative of the President of Kazakhstan and with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Zhasyl Damu has allocated KZT 33,121,711,000 from recycling fee revenues since 2024 to purchase modern specialized equipment for state national parks, forest reserves, nature reserves, and forestry institutions across the country.

During this period, 1,006 units of specialized equipment were procured for environmental protection organizations to help prevent and rapidly extinguish forest and steppe fires. The equipment includes fire tank trucks, off-road vehicles, tractors of various models, and other machinery required to protect forest resources and specially protected natural areas.

The modernization of the technical resources of environmental protection institutions is aimed at improving their preparedness for the wildfire season, reducing emergency response times, and increasing the effectiveness of wildfire suppression efforts.

The largest allocations were made to:

• East Kazakhstan Region – KZT 5.05 billion, 148 units of equipment;
• Akmola Region – KZT 4.94 billion, 160 units;
• Pavlodar Region – KZT 4.44 billion, 136 units;
• Kostanay Region – KZT 4.10 billion, 112 units;
• Abai Region – KZT 3.34 billion, 82 units;
• North Kazakhstan Region – KZT 3.31 billion, 107 units.

The delivered equipment is already in use by environmental protection institutions throughout the country. It enables rapid deployment of firefighting crews to wildfire sites, supports patrol operations, and improves the prevention and suppression of forest fires.

Earlier, it was reported that Zhasyl Damu had allocated KZT 16.9 billion to strengthen forest fire protection measures.

In 2024, the operator also financed the modernization of equipment for the forestry and water management sectors, as well as the emergency response system, with KZT 200 billion.

Since the beginning of the year, 36 forest fires covering more than 794 hectares have been recorded in Kazakhstan’s forest areas.
